One of us: Marit Lande Øyjord
We had the pleasure of asking a few questions to one of our talented junior consultants who joined Pearl one year ago. Read Marit words to get a better understanding of Pearl as a workplace and the value our junior consultants bring to the teams.
Marit Lande Øyjord
Junior Consultant, Sales and Distribution
Hi Marit! Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Marit Lande Øyjord. I have a Bachelor's degree in Retail Management from BI Oslo. I joined Pearl as a Trainee in 2022 and became a Junior Consultant in February 2023. I am part of the PSD team and currently work mainly with SD (Sales and Distribution), but I am also certified in MM (Materials Management/Procurement).
What does your role as a junior consultant actually involve?
The role is very varied. I work closely with more experienced consultants on different tasks, but there is also an expectation that you are more independent than as a Trainee and able to take on and solve tasks on your own. The role requires curiosity and a genuine eagerness to learn, both from others and through self-study.
What does a typical working day look like?
It is difficult to describe a typical day because most days are different. It ranges from project work with testing, meetings and workshops, to self-study through reading and webinars. In short, it is a varied day-to-day with plenty to get stuck into.
In a typical Pearl project, how do you complement the more experienced team members?
I contribute wherever I can and wherever I am needed. There is quite a lot of testing involved, but I also get to be part of the process in between, and I learn a great deal along the way about how a project is run, including the different phases and what is expected of consultants at each stage.
What is the best thing about working as a consultant at Pearl?
The culture, without question. Everyone is very good at helping each other wherever they can. There is also a real focus on doing things together socially outside of work, which makes the environment even better. And it is genuinely exciting to work with so many different clients and the opportunities that brings.
What do you do after work?
Like many people, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going to the cabin for hikes and relaxing. I have also recently started kickboxing, which I really enjoy. I have spent a lot of time training at the gym, so it is great to have a proper hobby again.
